Mariánské Lázně was developed at the beginning of the 19th century in a valley where many excellent healing waters spring from the ground. There are forty springs within the city area, and one hundred in the immediate vicinity. This beautifully kept city is situated in a picturesque valley and on the wooded slopes of the Slavkovský forest area, 628 metres above sea level. During your visit you will enjoy a stroll on the Spa Colonnade, which is a cast-iron colonnade from 1889, see the Singing Fountain (a fountain with 10 springs which offers a musical performance on each hour, with compositions by Mozart, Chopin, Smetana, Dvořák and Bach), taste different healing springs, and possibly swim or relax at some of the thermal pools or wellness centres.
